“The Atlanta BeltLine, an initiative that started with one graduate student’s innovative vision, is coming to life. It is one of America’s most ambitious urban transportation and redevelopment programs and is at its core a testament to public, private and community partnership. Grassroots advocates, business, civic, political and community leaders are driving the Atlanta BeltLine’s implementation with their ideas and aspirations, inspired by a once-in-a-generation opportunity to renew our city and create a national model of healthier, more sustainable, interconnected neighborhoods with greater mobility and economic opportunity for all.” – Atlanta BeltLine Strategic Implementation Plan, Final Report

Beacon Station Apartments: Augusta, Georgia

josh thigpenLDG Consulting worked with Josh Thigpen, Senior Development Manager of Columbia Ventures, on this 221 unit Augusta apartment complex project. LDG experts were brought on to help supplement Columbia’s staff in order to help them as developers / owners accepted the units from the general contractor.

Its location offers easy access to shopping, dining, the canal, and Augusta University’s campus. APD Urban LogoAPD Urban Planning + Management led the creation of and advised the City of Augusta and led the creation of the Master Plan for the Historic Laney Walker-Bethlehem Neighborhood. Preparing this plan required an understanding of the threats, opportunity, and vision of the community’s residents and stakeholders. The plan documented threats to long-term stability, identified opportunities to build on the neighborhoods rich historic and cultural past, and partnered with local residents and stakeholders in determining an implementation plan that would be enhanced by the NRS designation. As a result of this work, the future site for Columbia Ventures’ Beacon Station became a reality. LDG Consulting has worked with APD in both formal and informal engagements. APD’s early and thoughtful work in many communities lays the groundwork for successful projects by private, non-profit and public-private partnerships.
